Hotel degli Olmi has a convention with skiing station of Passo Godi. The skiing district of Passo Godi only at a few km far from the hotel has very good ski lift facilities (3 ski lift, 1 ski carpet, raft facilities) going up from 1560 mt to 1990 mt and of several ski runs (1 black ski runs, 2 red ski runs, 6 blue ski runs - from the most difficult level to the easier). The district offer to people keen on country cross skiing 2 ring tracks (2,5 e 5 km) and an interesting excursion path.. Events and exhibitions
Many are the interesting museums visitors can attend, whose local people are proud of, able to arise in the local community people the awareness of their own identity and tradition, thus interlacing all the historical elements (nature, culture, folklore, religion, language, cooking). In Villetta Barrea you can visit the Transumanza Museum, the permanent exhibition “Futuro remoto “ (remote future), the Water museum. Handicraft and typical product offer (sheep and cow milk cheeses, trout, turnips and beans, corn, as well as honey and black cherries or quinces pies, forest fruits and liqueurs such as ratafià, nocino (walnut liqueur), fragolino (strawberry liqueur) and cotognino) is a complete one able to satisfy everybody, adults and kids, as well as families or groups. During the long winter period from December to April the skiing season (downhill and cross country) are not the only reason to come for a vacation: there are daily workshops simulation, for those who want to learn the art of pottery, ceramic, wood carving, weaving, basket making, paper-mache, flower composition, how to make a bagpipe, but it is also possible to attend Italian language courses for foreigners, didactic activities for schools, cheese making or cooking classes, courses about several themes, besides guided tasting or wellness week ends. Traditions are bound to the local patron feasts (first Sunday in July is celebrated St. Vincenzo, while the last Sunday in August is the St. Barbara feast) , but
also to the traditions and habits of folk and peasant tradition , as well as shepherd’s and religious cultural heritage, in some cases also very ancient, and they offer the visitor the opportunity to take part in the local community celebration. Also wedding ceremonies preserves ancient rites: the wedding eve serenata, the grascia by coming out from the church, typical cakes and biscuits (turcinegli, torroncini, almond confetti and sospiri). A wonderful event takes place during the first week end in September : the town is turned into a theatre where the so called “ dodda” is, a sort of historical costume parade about the ancient wedding traditions, that are played and set in every corner and alley in the small town.
